Our Student of the Week this week comes from 2nd grade. Isabelle Munoz is such a sweetheart and is always so helpful! Wilson ISD is so lucky to have her.
Wilson ISD would like to give an extra special thanks to Parry's Pizza in Lubbock for providing lunch to staff for our first day of STAAR testing today! They really did spoil us today. We are so thankful for establishments like theirs that provide a little comfort and peace for hardworking educators.

A little refresh reminder: Yearbooks are still on sale! Online orders are accepted. The order deadline is May 31st. The earlier you order, the earlier you can receive your book. If you want to pass it around for autographs you need to order by the end of April. If you want to use cash please turn it into Mrs. Vanhoose or a journalism student.

This week starts our first round of tests! Tuesday we have a group of upperclassmen taking the ACT starting at 8am. Wednesday is the English I STAAR test. Our biggest test day is Thursday with our 3rd-8th grade English Language Arts test as well as the English II exam. Please equip your student with a good nights sleep, a healthy breakfast, a clear mind and a few words of encouragement to take on their testing this week.
Our High School track team competed at their District meet yesterday and had a great day!
We had 2 boys qualify to compete at the Area meet. Chris Martinez for the 200m dash and Luke Cypert for the High Jump.
We are very proud of the kids and all they have done this season.
Kindergarten and 1st grade learned about the American flag today!
Here is the schedule for tomorrow's High School District Track Meet at Borden County. These kids have really been working hard and are ready for their last chance to improve on their numbers! It's going to be a beautiful day with lots of sunshine and a high of 84 degrees. Please pack accordingly. Sunscreen, chapstick and possibly a blanket to stay comfortable while waiting for your event. We will be there all day and have an account for food but feel free to bring money for anything extra. As always, run fast, throw far, jump big....and GO MUSTANGS!

CALENDAR UPDATE: We DO NOT have school this FRIDAY 3/29. Our board thought we should enjoy Good Friday. We may have to make it up later in the year. Official news on that will come soon.

Wellman-Union is switching the track meets scheduled for this week. Tomorrow will now be the High School meet and Thursday will be the Junior High meet. Below is the event schedule. The athletes will depart after lunch around 2PM and return at the conclusion of running finals. There will be communication when we have left the track and are headed back. Run Fast, Throw Far and GO MUSTANGS!
