Dear Parents and Guardians, We hope this message finds you well. We want to inform you that our students will soon be taking the STAAR (State of Texas Assessments of Academic Readiness) exams. These assessments are an important part of measuring student progress and academic achievement. Testing Dates: Tuesday April 8th (Reading 3-8 & English I/II) What You Can Do to Help Your Child Succeed: Ensure your child gets plenty of rest the night before each test. Make sure your child eats a healthy breakfast. Arrive at school on time, as testing will begin promptly in the morning. Offer words of encouragement and remind them to do their best! Please note that electronic devices (including smartwatches and phones) will not be permitted during testing, and students should bring any necessary supplies provided by their teachers. If you have any questions or concerns about the STAAR exams, please don’t hesitate to reach out to us. Thank you for your continued support. Together, we can help our students feel confident and prepared. We know our students are gonna do great!!!

8th grader Uriel Ayala attended an event with the Region that focuses on Culinary skills for secondary aged students with visual impairments. He made Spaghetti and meatballs from scratch at the Culinary Co-Op. What a cool opportunity!

Prom is April 25 at the Slaton Community Center. All high school students are invited. Tickets are $20. Seniors do not have to pay. Anyone who is not a student at WHS has to complete a form before attending and will need a ticket. You can get the form from Ms. Lehman. Tickets can be purchased from Ms. Lehman or Mrs.Zaragoza. Deadline to RSVP and purchase tickets is April 17.

There have been a couple changes to the Track and Field schedule. Here is an updated version.

Mrs. Jones's 1st and 2nd grade class read "How to Make a Flying Fish" in class last week. They followed steps and used some creativity and engineering to make our own flying fish. They also tied this in with Science concepts (wind) that they previously learned. yesterday was the perfect day to go fly their creations!
