On Monday April 8th a Solar Eclipse occurred at 90% totality in Wilson. Of course the campus used the opportunity to go outside and get a lesson in hands on science! Mrs. Josey brought a disco ball to show that the shadows from the sun were in the exact shape projected. Along with her pin hole projector, it was a way to see the eclipse without having to actually look at the sun.

The elementary students made full coverage masks to cover their solar glasses to prevent any kind of peeking that may damage their fragile eyes. This allowed them a lot of freedom of movement while they were outside.

Overall, it was a good opportunity to see something very cool and science-based at the same time. There will not be another solar eclipse like today's in nearly 20 years. We are so pleased that we were able to seize the moment and get outside!..
